I only need 1 cup to add to the final rinse.

With salt

You only need half a cup straight into the basket. This little “tip” is enough to prevent or limit the fading of black clothes, especially if they are new.

With baking soda

It eliminates bad odors and revives light-colored clothes, but at the same time helps us wash black clothes safely and effectively. Half a cup in the drum of the washing machine: your dark clothes will thank you.

With coffee

About two cups of black tea or coffee during the rinse cycle. The black will be much more intense.

General rules
But in addition to these natural remedies, there are also other measures that can help preserve the color of dark clothes.

For example, wash them inside out: The outer fabric of dark clothes is more exposed to detergents and friction with other clothes or the walls of the drum, so it makes sense to wash them inside out.

Or, if possible, wash them less, especially in the machine.

Finally, another element to take into account is the temperature: high temperatures are more likely to cause fabrics to lose color. Therefore, cold water or not too high temperatures can help us not to fade our dark clothes.

Either way, it’s always a good idea to carefully follow the washing instructions on clothing labels.
