When harvested at a diameter of around 3 cm, round beets are at their biggest and have the mildest flavor. For optimal spacing between remaining beets, gather as much as you can from each row while harvesting beets. Their growth will be aided by this.
Round types should be picked when they reach a diameter of around 7.5 cm, since any more development will diminish their aesthetic value. While being cautious not to harm the outer skin, gently use a trowel to dig under the root and pull the bulb into the soil.
