After having hosted this cult show for a long time, viewers were able to find Jean-Pierre Descombes behind the camera. He was the voice-over for successful entertainment shows in the 1980s and 1990s. These include The Right Price and Une Famille en Or on TF1. In the 2000s, Jean-Pierre Descombes switched to hosting trade shows, galates or events such as the tour of old glories from the 1960s and 1970s entitled Age tender et tête de bois in 2012. A few years later, in 2018, he made notable appearances in the shows Touche pas à mon poste and La Grosse rigolade.
Jean-Pierre Descombes: an illness that he spoke about publicly
Jean-Pierre Descombes did not hesitate to talk about Parkinson's disease publicly. Guest of the show Chez Jordan in April 2023, the host was transparent about his daily life, which is not always obvious. “For 10 years I tried to hide this problem and then it got worse every day,” he began. He then spoke of the day his illness was revealed to the general public, while he was filming a prime alongside Cyril Hanouna. “It was during the evening I was last around 1 a.m. and the tablets I had taken no longer had any effect,” he recalled.

Jean-Pierre Descombes' state of health was deteriorating and that's when he understood that he could no longer hide. “When the cameras are there, they can detect a movement that I can hide on a podium or in a big party that I am hosting, but on TV we cannot…” he lamented. At the time of this interview, the former host had expressed his intention to continue fighting "One day everything is fine, we are the king of the world and then the next day, we don't know why, we are completely flat." he explained. The illness took over Jean-Pierre Descombes, who will never be forgotten.

Jean-Pierre Descombes: a sick man but well cared for
Jean-Pierre Descombes was fighting illness but he said he was well looked after. His first support being his wife. “For her it’s not funny, we relax when we’re at home, we don’t have the springiness that we have when we’re on stage,” he explained. The former host then revealed that it was important for his loved ones that he did not appear on television in this state. “It’s not an image you should show,” they allegedly told him. Far from the media coverage, Jean-Pierre Descombes still used his notoriety to talk about his fight. “We have to be stronger than that, we have to resist,” he said.
