Emmanuel Macron then chose to dissolve the National Assembly to leave the choice to the French. For the first round of the legislative elections, Jordan Bardella's party obtained more than 30% of the votes. The left-wing parties, wanting to block the far right, decided to found the New Popular Front. Thanks to their alliances, they came first in the second round of the legislative elections. Emmanuel Macron's party, Renaissance, came in second place. Finally, the National Rally obtained more than 130 seats in the National Assembly.

The protégé of Marine Le Pen planned to become Prime Minister if his party had an absolute majority in the National Assembly.
