Urban rodeos have become a real scourge in certain cities. Saturday April 15, 2023, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, asked the prefects to strengthen measures to combat this activity. Indeed, on Thursday April 20 in the evening, a 6-year-old girl was injured in the Lambézellec district. According to sources, the girl's mother was cooking while her daughter played in the park of the housing estate. However, shortly after, the latter was hit on public roads by a red motocross bike.
Urban rodeo: incessant verbalizations since March 1
The young victim had a bump on the back of his head and skin abrasions on his body. Following the accident, she was taken to Morvan hospital. Good news: his life is not in danger. According to published information, on April 17, a red motocross bike was stolen in the neighborhood. Two days later, local residents reported to the police that a similar machine was carrying out urban rodeos. Currently, investigations are continuing to find the driver. Since last summer, control operations have increased. The fight against urban rodeos is considered a priority at the national level. “We are targeting all neighborhoods and the city center,” said Fabien Ponsin, head of public highway surveillance and deputy central commissioner in Brest.

In recent days, the subject has become hot in the city of Ponant. And for good reason: two news items particularly left their mark. The first concerns the death of an elderly person hit by a motorcycle on March 22, 2023 in Pontanézen, and the second, the attack on a man in Bellevue on April 16. The latter, exasperated by the noise of the machines in front of his house, went down to ask the young people to stop their actions. In response, the man was severely beaten. The prefect of the department, Philippe Mahé, recalled that in 2022 “448 urban rodeo initiative checks were implemented in Brest during which 76 fines were recorded. Since the start of 2023, 196 additional checks were carried out in all districts of Brest. Three urban rodeo offenses were identified and brought to justice thanks to the investigations carried out.
