Anne Hidalgo is not the first to have bathed in the Seine in recent days
As a reminder, this swim was particularly anticipated because initially announced for June 23, 2024. The event had, however, been postponed due to the particularly stormy political context, with the dissolution of the National Assembly and the early legislative elections which followed. Finally, it was the Minister of Sports who took the famous dive first, on Saturday July 13, 2024. Accompanied by disabled triathlete Alexis Hanquinquant, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra took a dip at the foot of the National Assembly. A “moving” and “super powerful” moment, due to “all the work carried out by state services and communities over the past four years”. Indeed, the quality of the river's water has greatly improved in recent years, and even more so in recent months and weeks: over the first twelve days of July, the Seine was swimmable “ten or eleven days” according to Pierre Rabadan , deputy mayor of Paris in charge of the Olympic Games.
