Jean-Jacques Goldman, although not having released a new album for two decades, remains present in our lives through his songs. Various projects, from the “Goldman Legacy” tour where the younger generation covers his hits, to the popularity of Envole-moi which even inspired a film, bear witness to his lasting influence. However, despite these successes and the enthusiasm generated, the possibility of a return to the forefront seems unlikely for Goldman, faithful to his maxim “to live happily, let us live hidden”.
Jean-Jacques Goldman, a very unlikely return
Éric Jean-Jean, in a podcast broadcast on RTL in December 2022, reveals that from the beginning, Goldman has always felt an aversion to the fame and notoriety that accompany it. The anecdote told by the radio host is revealing of this attitude: when fans asked him for an autograph at his parents' Sport 2000 store, he preferred to pretend to be his cousin rather than assuming his own identity. In a report from Le Point published on August 3, the words of a close friend of Goldman, Thierry Suc, add weight to the idea that the singer will not make a media comeback. The one who was his concert producer in the 80s, shared exchanges with Jean-Jacques Goldman which left little room for ambiguity regarding a possible return. “I often tickled him, he burst out laughing. If he had wanted to come back, he would have done so,” he explains.
