Ingredients
8 hot dog buns
8 beef or chicken hot dogs
1 can (15 oz) of chili (with or without beans)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup diced onions (optional)
2 tbsp melted butter
1 tsp garlic powder
Chopped parsley or green onions for garnish (optional)
Directions
Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish lightly with cooking spray or butter.
Assemble the Hot Dogs: Open the buns slightly and place a hot dog inside each one. Lay them side by side in the prepared baking dish.
Add the Chili: Pour the chili evenly over the hot dogs, making sure each one is generously covered.
Cheese it Up: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the chili layer. Add diced onions on top if you’re using them.
Butter Brush: Mix melted butter with garlic powder and brush it lightly over the tops of the buns. This will make them golden and flavorful.
Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the buns are slightly toasted.
Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped parsley or green onions on top for added color and freshness. Serve warm and enjoy!
Serving and Storage Tips
Serving: Serve your Chili Cheese Dog Bake straight out of the dish with a side of coleslaw, fries, or a green salad.
Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave until heated through.
