This simple yet sophisticated dessert is perfect for any occasion, from intimate dinners to festive gatherings. With its luscious texture and deep chocolate flavor, it’s a treat that will impress your guests and satisfy your sweet cravings.
Ingredients
2 cups heavy cream
½ cup whole milk
½ cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin
3 tablespoons cold water
4 ounces dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher), finely chopped
A pinch of salt
Instructions
Prepare the Gelatin
In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water and let it sit for 5 minutes until it blooms.
Heat the Cream Mixture
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, and salt. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is heated through, but do not let it boil.
Melt the Chocolate
Add the chopped dark chocolate to the warm cream mixture and stir until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
Incorporate the Gelatin
Remove the saucepan from heat and whisk in the bloomed gelatin until fully dissolved. Then, add the vanilla extract and mix well.
Strain and Pour
Strain the mixture through a fine sieve to remove any lumps, ensuring a silky-smooth texture. Pour the panna cotta mixture into serving ramekins or dessert glasses.
Chill
Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until fully set.
Serving and Storage Tips
Serve chilled, topped with fresh berries, chocolate shavings, or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, covered with plastic wrap to prevent it from absorbing other flavors.
