Introduction: Mosquitoes are more than just a nuisance; they can also spread dangerous diseases. While store-bought repellents may contain harsh chemicals, making your own natural mosquito repellent can be a safe and effective alternative. Not only will this homemade solution keep the buzzing pests away, but it will also ensure that you’re using ingredients that are gentle on your skin and the environment. In this article, we’ll guide you through the process of creating your very own natural mosquito repellent.

Ingredients:

10-15 drops of essential oils (eucalyptus, citronella, lavender, or lemon balm)
2 tablespoons of witch hazel
1 tablespoon of coconut oil (for moisturizing and a base)
1/4 cup of distilled water
1 small spray bottle (around 4 oz)
1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol (optional, for added effectiveness)
Instructions:

Begin by adding 1/4 cup of distilled water into your spray bottle.
Add 2 tablespoons of witch hazel to the bottle. This ingredient acts as an emulsifier, helping the oils mix with the water.
Next, mix in 10-15 drops of essential oils. You can use a combination of oils like citronella, eucalyptus, or lavender, which are all known for their mosquito-repelling properties.
For additional moisturizing benefits and an even better base, add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. If you want a stronger repellent, add a tablespoon of rubbing alcohol. It helps improve the effectiveness.
Close the spray bottle and shake well to combine all ingredients.
Your homemade mosquito repellent is now ready to use!
Serving and Storage Tips:

Shake the bottle well before each use, as the oils may separate over time.
Store the repellent in a cool, dark place to maintain its potency.
Apply the repellent directly onto exposed skin, but avoid spraying near your eyes or mouth.
A little goes a long way—just a few spritzes should be enough for each application.
