Introduction
Tiramisu is a timeless Italian dessert that combines layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers with a rich and creamy mascarpone filling. While the traditional version is beloved worldwide, this variation introduces a fresh and indulgent twist with strawberries and white chocolate. The combination of the fruity sweetness of strawberries and the velvety richness of white chocolate creates a dessert that's both luxurious and refreshing. Whether you're planning a dinner party or a cozy treat for yourself, this Tiramisu with Strawberries and White Chocolate is sure to impress.
Ingredients:
For the Tiramisu:
1 pound (450g) fresh strawberries, sliced
2 tablespoons sugar
1 cup heavy cream
8 ounces mascarpone cheese, softened
4 ounces white chocolate, melted and cooled slightly
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup strong brewed coffee or espresso, cooled
1/4 cup liqueur (optional, such as Amaretto or Marsala)
1 package ladyfingers (about 24 pieces)
Cocoa powder (for dusting)
Instructions:
Prepare the Strawberries:
In a small bowl, combine the sliced strawberries and sugar. Stir gently to coat the berries. Let them sit for 10–15 minutes to release some of their natural juices. This will help create a syrupy consistency when they mix with the rest of the ingredients.
Prepare the White Chocolate Cream:
In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. This can be done using an electric mixer or by hand with a whisk.
In another bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, melted white chocolate, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and creamy.
Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone and white chocolate mixture. Be careful not to deflate the whipped cream to maintain a light and fluffy texture.
Assemble the Tiramisu:
In a shallow dish or a trifle bowl, mix the cooled coffee (or espresso) with the liqueur, if using.
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture for just a second or two (don’t let them soak too long, or they’ll become soggy).
Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers at the bottom of your serving dish.
Spoon half of the white chocolate cream mixture over the ladyfingers, spreading it evenly.
Layer half of the sugared strawberries on top of the cream.
Repeat the process with another layer of dipped ladyfingers, followed by the remaining cream and strawberries.
Chill and Set:
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. This allows the flavors to meld and the dessert to set properly.
Serving and Storage Tips:
Serving: Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with a light sprinkling of cocoa powder for an elegant touch. If desired, garnish with extra strawberry slices or white chocolate shavings to enhance the visual appeal.
Storage: Tiramisu can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Make sure to cover it tightly to prevent it from absorbing any odors from the fridge. The flavors tend to improve as the dessert sits, making it a perfect make-ahead treat.
