Introduction
Garlic is more than just a flavorful addition to your favorite dishes—it’s been used for centuries as a natural remedy for a wide variety of ailments. But have you ever heard of the surprising benefits of eating garlic right before bed? It might sound a little strange (and a bit smelly!), but adding a clove of garlic to your nighttime routine could offer more than just a boost in flavor—it might actually help improve your health and sleep quality. Here's how to try it and what to expect.
Ingredients:
1 fresh clove of garlic
A teaspoon of raw honey (optional)
A glass of warm water (optional for drinking after)
Directions:
Peel the garlic clove. Remove the papery outer layer until you’re left with the smooth, fresh clove.
Crush or finely chop the garlic. Crushing helps release allicin, the powerful compound responsible for many of garlic’s benefits.
Optional – Mix with honey. If eating raw garlic sounds too intense, try mixing it with a teaspoon of raw honey. This makes it more palatable and adds extra soothing and antibacterial properties.
Swallow the garlic (and honey, if used). You can chew it if you like, but swallowing it whole or in small pieces helps reduce the strong aftertaste.
Follow with a sip of warm water, if needed.
Serving and Storage Tips:
Always use fresh garlic. Pre-chopped or jarred garlic loses many of its active compounds.
Prepare it right before bed and consume immediately for best results.
Store your garlic bulbs in a cool, dry place—no need to refrigerate whole bulbs.
