Introduction
Oral health is an essential part of overall wellness, yet many commercial dental products are packed with chemicals and artificial ingredients that may do more harm than good in the long run. Fortunately, you can support your gums, teeth, and fresh breath naturally with a simple homemade remedy. This all-natural recipe combines the power of a few everyday ingredients known for their antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and breath-freshening properties. It’s easy to make, gentle on your mouth, and effective at promoting long-term oral hygiene.
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons of coconut oil (antibacterial, helps reduce plaque)
1 tablespoon of baking soda (natural cleanser and whitener)
10 drops of peppermint essential oil (freshens breath and has antibacterial properties)
5 drops of tea tree essential oil (powerful antibacterial and antifungal agent)
1 teaspoon of xylitol (optional – natural sweetener that may help fight cavities)
A pinch of sea salt (mineral-rich and mildly abrasive for polishing teeth)
Directions:
In a small glass jar or container, combine the coconut oil and baking soda. Stir well until a smooth paste forms.
Add the peppermint and tea tree essential oils, and stir again to evenly distribute the oils.
If desired, add xylitol and a pinch of sea salt, then mix thoroughly.
Store the paste at room temperature if it’s cool, or in the refrigerator if your home is warm and the coconut oil melts easily.
To use: Scoop a small pea-sized amount with a clean spoon or toothbrush and brush your teeth as usual. Rinse thoroughly.
Serving and Storage Tips:
Store in an airtight glass container away from direct sunlight.
This mixture typically lasts for up to 2–3 weeks when stored properly.
Use a clean utensil each time to prevent contamination.
Stir occasionally if the mixture separates or softens in warm temperatures.
