Introduction: Family meals are often more than just about the food—they’re about creating memories, sharing stories, and enjoying each other’s company. One recipe that brings everyone together in my family is Grandpa’s signature dish. It’s so delicious that all the grandkids want seconds, and Grandpa himself can’t resist having three servings! It’s the perfect meal for family gatherings and has become a cherished tradition at our table. Let’s dive into this simple but scrumptious recipe that everyone loves.
Ingredients:
1 pound of ground beef (or your choice of meat)
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 can (15 oz) of tomato sauce
1 can (15 oz) of diced tomatoes
1 cup of elbow macaroni (or any pasta you prefer)
2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of black pepper
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning (optional)
Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Directions:
Cook the Pasta: Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set it aside.
Brown the Meat: In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned. Drain any excess fat.
Sauté the Veggies: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pan with the beef. Cook until the onion becomes soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
Add the Sauce: Pour in the tomato sauce and diced tomatoes, and stir to combine. Add the salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Combine Everything: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, stirring gently to coat the pasta with the sauce. Once combined, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top and stir until the cheese melts into the sauce, creating a creamy, cheesy texture.
Serve: Once everything is well mixed and the cheese is fully melted, remove the skillet from the heat.
Serving and Storage Tips:
Serving Suggestions: Serve this dish hot, garnished with a sprinkle of fresh parsley if desired. It pairs wonderfully with a side of garlic bread or a crisp green salad.
Storage: If you have leftovers, let the dish cool to room temperature before storing it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can reheat it in the microwave or on the stove. If you want to keep it for longer, you can freeze it for up to 2 months.
