Natural Ways to Eliminate Grease and Odors from Kitchen Cabinets

Introduction:
Kitchen cabinets are notorious for collecting stubborn grease and lingering cooking odors, especially in busy households. Over time, the build-up not only looks unsightly but can also create an unpleasant smell that clings to your kitchen. Fortunately, you don’t need harsh chemicals to tackle this problem. With a few common household ingredients and a little elbow grease, you can restore your cabinets to their clean, fresh-smelling state.

Ingredients:

1 cup white vinegar

1 tablespoon baking soda

1 teaspoon liquid dish soap (degreasing kind works best)

1 cup warm water

10–15 drops essential oil (lemon, tea tree, or eucalyptus are excellent choices)

Microfiber cloth or sponge

Old toothbrush or soft scrub brush

Spray bottle (optional)

Preparation:

Create the Cleaning Solution:
In a large bowl or spray bottle, mix the vinegar, baking soda, dish soap, and warm water. Stir or shake until fully blended. Add essential oil to cut the vinegar smell and leave a fresh scent.

Apply to Cabinets:
Dip a microfiber cloth into the solution or spray it directly onto cabinet surfaces. Focus on areas around handles and stove tops where grease is usually thickest.

Scrub Gently:
Use a soft brush or toothbrush to gently scrub crevices, grooves, and corners. Don’t use anything too abrasive, especially on painted or wood-finished cabinets.

Wipe Clean:
Wipe off the loosened grime with a clean, damp cloth. Follow up with a dry cloth to remove any leftover moisture.

Repeat if Necessary:
For tough, old grease, you may need to repeat the process or let the solution sit for a few minutes before scrubbing.

Serving and Storage Tips:

Routine Maintenance: Clean high-use areas monthly to prevent build-up.

Storage of Solution: If you have leftover solution, store it in a sealed spray bottle for up to a week. Shake before each use.

Ventilation Matters: To keep odors away longer, ventilate your kitchen regularly while cooking.
