A Strange Discovery in the Bathroom – A Recipe for Scented Surprise Bombs

Introduction:
Not all recipes begin in the kitchen. Sometimes, they start with an odd encounter—in this case, a mysterious fizzing sound and a curious scent wafting from the bathroom. Upon investigation, what was thought to be a plumbing disaster turned out to be the accidental invention of a homemade aromatic cleaning bomb. This quirky “recipe” combines household ingredients to create fizzy, fresh-smelling tablets that clean your toilet and leave the room smelling divine. Here's how to recreate this accidental bathroom alchemy on purpose!

Ingredients:

1 cup baking soda (cleans and deodorizes)

1/4 cup citric acid (provides the fizz)

1/4 cup cornstarch (binds ingredients)

2 tablespoons hydrogen peroxide (mild disinfectant)

15–20 drops essential oil (eucalyptus, lavender, or lemon recommended)

Spray bottle of water (as needed)

Silicone mold or ice cube tray

Preparation:

In a large mixing bowl, combine baking soda, citric acid, and cornstarch. Stir thoroughly with a whisk to distribute evenly.

In a separate small bowl, mix hydrogen peroxide and essential oil. Slowly add this wet mixture into the dry ingredients while stirring constantly to prevent premature fizzing.

Lightly mist the mix with water from the spray bottle, one spritz at a time, until it begins to clump like damp sand when pressed (do not oversaturate!).

Firmly press the mixture into your silicone mold or tray compartments. Allow to dry uncovered for at least 12 hours, or until completely hardened.

Carefully remove from the mold and store in an airtight jar or container.

Serving and Storage Tips:
Drop one tablet into your toilet bowl whenever it needs freshening up. Let it fizz and sit for about 10–15 minutes before scrubbing, or simply flush for a quick refresh. Store your bathroom bombs in a dry, cool place—humidity can cause them to activate early.
