Introduction
Nail fungus, medically known as onychomycosis, can be an unsightly and stubborn condition that affects both toenails and fingernails. While pharmaceutical treatments exist, they often require months of application and may come with side effects. Luckily, nature offers us powerful alternatives. In this article, you'll discover a potent home remedy that can help eliminate nail fungus quickly and effectively — sometimes showing improvement in just seconds.
This recipe blends natural antifungal agents known for their rapid action and accessibility, perfect for those looking for a holistic and budget-friendly solution.
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (unfiltered, with "mother")
1 tablespoon of baking soda
5 drops of tea tree essential oil
1 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide (3% solution)
1 glass of warm water (about 100 ml)
Cotton pads or Q-tips (for application)
Optional:
A few drops of lavender essential oil (for scent and added antifungal properties)
Preparation:
In a clean bowl, combine the warm water and apple cider vinegar.
Add the hydrogen peroxide and stir gently.
Mix in the baking soda — the solution will fizz; this is normal and helps lift debris from the nail surface.
Add the tea tree oil (and lavender oil if using), stirring well to distribute.
Pour the solution into a clean glass jar or bowl.
Application Method:
Soak the affected nails in the mixture for 5–10 minutes.
If soaking is not practical (for fingernails or small spots), soak a cotton pad or Q-tip and apply directly to the nail.
Let the solution air-dry on the nail for at least 15 minutes before rinsing off.
Repeat once daily for 7–10 days. Improvement may be noticeable in the first application, with continued benefits over time.
Caution: Do not use on broken skin or if you experience irritation. Always perform a patch test before full use.
Presentation and Storage Tips:
Store leftover solution in a sealed glass container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Shake or stir before each use as oils may separate.
