Introduction:
Digestive sluggishness and bloating are common symptoms of a backed-up colon, especially after a day of indulgent eating. While your body is equipped to detoxify naturally, sometimes it helps to give it a little nudge with gentle, natural ingredients. This simple at-home recipe is designed to support your digestive system by hydrating your body, stimulating bowel movements, and flushing out residual waste—all in a safe and natural way.
Note: This is not a laxative or extreme cleanse. It’s a supportive beverage meant to enhance your body's own elimination process.
Ingredients:
-
1 cup warm water (not hot)
-
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
-
1 tablespoon organic apple cider vinegar (with “the mother”)
-
1 teaspoon raw honey (optional for taste)
-
½ teaspoon ground ginger or 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
-
A pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
-
1 tablespoon chia seeds or ground flaxseed (optional for added fiber)
Preparation:
-
In a large glass or mason jar, combine the warm water, lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar.
-
Add in the ginger, cayenne pepper, and honey if using. Stir well to dissolve.
-
If using chia or flax seeds, stir them in last. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes to allow the seeds to expand and release soluble fiber.
-
Stir again before drinking.
Serving and Storage Tips:
-
Drink the mixture first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, or between meals for best results.
-
Consume the drink slowly over 10–15 minutes to avoid cramping.
-
If you used seeds, you may want to follow with a full glass of water to help fiber move through your system.
-
Fresh is best: prepare and consume this drink the same day. If needed, store it in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
