Wire Basket Light Fixture
Materials
2 plant wire baskets (12-inch diameter)
1 string of LED fairy lights (10 feet long)
4 zip ties
1 can of spray paint (optional, for color)
1 ceiling hook (if hanging)
1 extension cord (if needed)
Directions
Begin by spray painting the wire baskets in your desired color, if you wish to change their appearance. Allow them to dry completely.
Once dry, place one basket upside down on a flat surface. Position the second basket right-side up, aligning their rims to form a spherical shape.
Secure the baskets together at four evenly spaced points using zip ties. Trim any excess from the zip ties.
Take the string of LED fairy lights and weave them through the gaps in the wire baskets, ensuring even distribution of light.
If you’re hanging the fixture, attach a ceiling hook in the desired location. Use an extension cord if the plug is not within reach.
Hang the wire basket light fixture from the ceiling hook, adjusting the height as needed.
Variations & Tips
For a more industrial look, consider using black or metallic spray paint on the baskets. You can also experiment with different types of lights, such as colored LEDs or solar-powered options for outdoor use. If you prefer a more natural aesthetic, leave the baskets unpainted and use warm white lights. Additionally, you can embellish the baskets with faux greenery or flowers to add a touch of nature to your design.
