Earwax is white in color
During childhood, earwax takes on a light color and gradually becomes honey-brown in color. However, if in adulthood, earwax takes on a white color and becomes crumbly, then it is probably due to a lack of nutrients inside your body, including copper and iron, the main minerals that make up earwax.
Earwax having an unpleasant odor
If you notice the presence of earwax having a bad odor in your ear, it may be due to an ear infection. If you also experience pain, a blocked ear sensation, ringing or decreased hearing, go to your doctor or appropriate healthcare professional.
Liquid earwax
Liquid earwax, or discharge from the ear, often illustrates an infection such as otitis. However, a violent shock can be the cause of this flow. Among these shocks, we find head trauma, a medical emergency. In any case, consult a healthcare professional promptly.
Dry earwax
Dry earwax can illustrate dryness of the ear canal, caused by eczema, a lack of earwax production, psoriasis, allergies or even chickenpox. It is therefore necessary to determine the exact cause in order to treat the pathology.
Please note that cotton swabs should only be used to clean the external part of the ear. Otherwise, they will have the effect of pushing the earwax towards the inside of the ear, which creates a blockage and leads to secondary infection.
