Are you worried about age spots? Don’t worry! There’s a simple and inexpensive home remedy to reduce them, and the key ingredient is probably already in your kitchen: baking soda!

Baking soda, or sodium bicarbonate, offers numerous benefits for the skin. A gentle exfoliant, it helps remove dead skin cells and gradually fade age spots. Its alkaline properties also help balance the skin’s pH, thus maintaining its overall health.

Here are two simple ways to use baking soda to lighten age spots:

Method 1: Baking Soda Paste

Ingredients:
– 2 teaspoons of baking soda
– Enough water to make a paste

Instructions:
1. Mix baking soda with a little water in a bowl until you get a thick paste.
2. Gently apply the paste to the age spots with your fingers. Avoid rubbing too hard.
3. Leave it on for about 5 minutes. For sensitive skin, start with 2 to 3 minutes.
4. Rinse with warm water and pat dry with a soft towel.
5. Moisturize the area to keep your skin hydrated.
6. Repeat 2 to 3 times a week, depending on your skin’s reaction.

Method 2: Baking soda and lemon juice

Ingredients:
– 2 teaspoons of baking soda
– 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice

Instructions:
1. Mix baking soda and lemon juice in a small bowl. Expect to see a slight fizz!
2. Once the fizz has dissipated, apply the mixture to your age spots using a cotton ball or your fingers.
3. Leave on for a maximum of 5 minutes, as lemon juice can make skin sensitive to the sun.
4. Rinse thoroughly with warm water, then moisturize your skin.
5. Use this treatment once a week and monitor your skin’s tolerance.
