That day, the rain fell steadily, as if the sky itself were mourning with them. Each drop struck the old, corrugated roof, mingling with the slow, mournful sound of funeral trumpets. In the center of the yard, a golden coffin sat on two wooden chairs. Around it sat friends, neighbors, and loved ones—all with bowed heads, hearts heavy with grief.
Elena, the young woman in that coffin, moved every resident of the yard.
She was only 25 years old.
In a short time, Elena became more than just a daughter-in-law to the family that took her in. She became the heart of the home—respectful, kind, and always putting others before herself. Mrs. Helen, her mother-in-law, proudly said, "Any family would be lucky to have a daughter-in-law like Elena."
But less than two years after joining their family, the unthinkable happened.
The Night That Changed Everything
It all started with a stomach ache. Elena held her stomach late into the night, trying to stay quiet so as not to cause a stir. When the pain became unbearable, she was immediately rushed to the hospital. By the time they arrived, she was already passing away.
The doctors did everything they could, but Elena never opened her eyes again.
She didn't get a chance to hear her baby's first cry. She couldn't hold the child she carried with such great hope.
The entire family was devastated. Mrs. Helen burst into tears. Her husband, Mr. Louis, sat still—silent and stunned—staring at the smiling portrait of Elena now resting on the coffin.
In the photo, she looked radiant. Full of life. No one could believe she was gone.
The Coffin That Wouldn't Move
When it was time to carry the coffin to the hearse, eight young men stepped forward to lift it.
Each of them took their place, bent down and pulled – but the coffin did not move.
They tried again. And again.
