Mr. White, according to your grandmother's will, you inherit her house. Here are the papers. Would you please sign them?

Linda was surprised. She wasn't jealous of her older brother, but it did worry her. After all, she'd renovated the house, and Brian had gotten it when he deserved it least.

“And Miss Linda, this is yours,” the lawyer said, pushing a box toward Linda.

"What is this?" she exclaimed as she opened the box. Inside, she found five old vintage clocks. Brian burst out laughing and started mocking her.

This is absolutely insane and cheap! Grandma left me her house. She knew who deserved it most. You can decorate your rental apartment with these rusty clocks and cry about it, sister. Not everyone is lucky!

Distraught, Linda went to town and took the clocks with her. She'd never thoroughly inspected them until one day she noticed an engraving on one of the letters.

“OPEN IT!” was engraved in a beautiful metal inscription.

Curious, Linda opened the clock, and what she found inside would change her life.

"A note?" she exclaimed, pulling a small parchment from the clock. She unfolded it and sat down, astonished.

"Never underestimate these rusty old watches! They're classic, 100-year-old watches that belonged to my grandfather. And they're made of rare and refined metals! Each one is worth $40,000, my dear!"   the note begins.

Linda's eyes filled with tears of joy as she read the rest.
